WordPress Frontend Developer (2-3 Years Exp.)

Everspan Solutions is seeking a motivated and energetic Business Development Intern to join our growing team. If you enjoy connecting with people, exploring new markets, and creating new opportunities, this role is perfect for you.

As a Business Development Intern, you will work closely with our sales team to identify potential clients, generate leads, and support growth strategies for our Web Development, SEO, and Digital Marketing services. This position offers hands-on learning, real-world exposure, and a clear path to securing a full-time role based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain custom WordPress themes from Figma/XD designs — no page builder dependency
  • Develop and customise plugins using WP hooks, shortcodes, and REST API endpoints
  • Implement WooCommerce customisations — checkout flow, product templates, cart logic, and payment gateway integration
  • Ensure all builds are fully responsive, cross-browser compatible, and meet WCAG AA accessibility basics
  • Translate client briefs into component-level task breakdowns and provide accurate time estimates
  • Optimise front-end performance — Core Web Vitals, asset minification, lazy loading, and caching configuration
  • Manage staging-to-live deployments, handle DB migrations, and maintain zero-downtime update workflows
  • Follow Git-based development — feature branches, pull requests, and meaningful commit messages
  • Debug and resolve frontend issues across themes, plugins, and third-party integrations independently
  • Maintain handover-ready code — inline comments, README updates, and Notion/task tracker updates

Must-have Requirements

  • Ability to build pixel-perfect, responsive themes from Figma/XD/PSD designs without a page builder
  • Solid grasp of WordPress template hierarchy, hooks (actions/filters), and plugin architecture
  • ACF Pro proficiency — field groups, flexible content layouts, options pages, and PHP rendering
  • WooCommerce customisation: template overrides, checkout fields, custom product types
  • Cross-browser and mobile-first CSS with clean, maintainable SCSS architecture
  • Git-based workflow — branching, PR review, staging-to-live deployment discipline
  • Performance mindset: image optimisation, lazy loading, minimising render-blocking assets
  • Portfolio with 10+ live WordPress projects demonstrating custom theme work

Strong advantages (nice to have)

  • Experience with Elementor Pro / Bricks / Kadence at a developer level (not just drag-and-drop)
  • Basic React/block development for Gutenberg custom blocks
  • Familiarity with headless WordPress or WP REST API / WPGraphQL
  • Experience with multisite, multilingual setups (WPML / Polylang)
  • LightSpeed / WP Rocket caching familiarity, including cache-busting for JS-heavy pages
